Elliott Associates LP is the hedge fund arm of Elliott Management of the US and is the largest single shareholder in Avocet Mining PLC which has a gold mine in Burkina Faso and two active gold mines in Malaysia and Indonesia [Hemscott 14 February 2009].
In January 2011, Elliott held 14.7% of the voting shares of Avocet plc (see also J&Partners )
