Denham Capital Management Ltd/ Denham Commodity Partners Fund VLP is a US-based private equity firm, with over US$4.3 billion of invested and committed capital, that focuses its activity around three key sectors: Oil & Gas, Metals & Mining, and Power & Renewables.
In November 2011, it committed US$200 million to establishing an "African mining platform" with Pangea Exploration Ltd of South Africa [MJ 11 November 2011].
As of that month, Denham also had investments in: Mining Ventures Brazil (a gold, copper and iron ore enterprise); Trans-Tasman Resources (focussed on dredging of iron sands in northern New Zealand/Aotearoa); Trinity Coal, of Virginia, with operations in central Appalachia, USA: and Upper Witgat, a company that mines coal in Northern Appalchia and Illinois.
In January 2009, Denham made an offer for AIM-listed mining concern Polo Resources Ltd, which described the bid as highly conditional and significantly undervaluing the company`s assets, although it did not rule out a later cash offer [Smallcap.news.co.uk, 26 January 2009], which appears not to have materialised.
